PLAYING TIME POLICY

1. Some players will play more in certain games. We want to give the opportunity to players that are playing well. This will be different players all the time. We assume everyone will want that opportunity for their own athlete.

2. If a player doesn’t play as much in one game, we will try our best to get them more opportunities in the next game. We want players to work hard in practice and games to earn their opportunities.

3. All players will get opportunities to play. Please refrain from getting discouraged after one game if you didn’t get the opportunity to play as much as wanted. We want to promote good team behavior. Once given the chance, it will be up to the player to take advantage of the opportunity given to them. We want all players to stay engaged and ready to play. You never know when your number will be called because of injury, fatigue, or foul trouble.

ATTENDANCE

We have a firm expectation that all players will attend practices and games. If a player is unable to participate, we kindly request that they notify the coaches in advance. Communication can be made through various channels, including phone calls, text messages, emails, or by utilizing team apps. By keeping the coaches informed, we can ensure effective team coordination and make appropriate adjustments as necessary. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this practice and game attendance policy.

PARENT POLICY

1. If a player can’t attend practice or games for a sickness or a personal matter, please contact the coach via phone, text message, or email stating that your athlete won’t be at practice, and reasoning. No call, no show, no play. You are still expected to show up to the game to support your teammates in the event this happens.

2. Emotions run high and low after games. We please ask if you have a concern that you contact the coach or director 24-48 hours after the game by email, phone, or text. That way both sides have time to let the emotions settle so that both parties can communicate clearly.

3. Recognize and applaud good play on both sides.

4. Encourage your child's commitment to his/her team.

5. Honor the game by refraining to criticize players, coaches or referees either explicitly or implicitly (e.g. physical motions, coaching from the stands).

6. Encourage other spectators to honor these expectations.

Code of Conduct

Inner Chi is committed to developing a setting that fosters fun, good sportsmanship, and personal and physical growth for its young athletes. Parents and spectators shall treat players, referees, or coaches with respect. Regardless of intent, parents and spectators are role models for children. Denigrating players, referees, and coaches sets a poor example for your child, undermines the team and fosters poor behavior in others. Inner Chi basketball promotes good conduct by all participants. iChi players will respect all players, coaches, referees, parents and spectators.

PLAYER POLICY

1. Play hard but fair. Play by the rules of the game.

2. Demonstrate good sportsmanship. Recognize and applaud good play by your teammates and opponents. Win with dignity and lose with grace.

3. Be committed to the team. Attend and pay attention at practices and games. Support your teammates. Work hard.

4. Respect referees by politely accepting their decisions. Never talk back or disrespect an official.

5. Respect coaches by valuing and appreciating their instruction and hard work. Ask questions. Seek to improve.

6. Inner Chi coaches expect the players to please approach the coaches first with comments, concerns, and questions. We want all of our athletes to learn to speak for themselves and take

accountability. This helps with the maturity and growth of the athlete.

7. Encourage your teammates to honor the Player Code of Conduct.

8. Parents/guardians are expected to help their child understand and honor these commitments as a player on the Inner Chi basketball team.
